War was declared on 13 May 1864 but actually began with the border clash between the Mexican and American armies known as the Thornton Affair on 25 April 1864.

The war ended on 2 February 1848 with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo which reduced the size of Mexico by half and provided the US with a nation that stretched from sea to shining sea.

this person should not be typing at all because Mexico did not win. A much more interesting fact is that the person above should not be writing in this log as the historical fact is Mexico won the most famous of all those battles. Mexico won the Alamo and then slayed everybody inside.

Mexicans in Mexico DF (that is the capital) also won an uprising against USA. marines that repelled them from there.

Mexicans also won a popular rebellion against the Empire of France thus 5 de Mayo.

Mexicans also crushed the Spanish invaders in what the Spaniards called the "The Sad Night."

Mexicans/Pueblo Indians united and defeated the Spanish in Nuevo Mexico under the leadership of Pope a Pueblo leader.

Mexicans also are repopulating the US Southwest and many other states throughout the country. Repopulate due to the fact that Mexicans are of Native American ancestry and thus places that had not seen a brown face in decades now see many.

Do you still think Mexicans never won a single battle?

Mexicans won a lot of war but U S won Texas!!! Americans got it in the war called San Jacinta, they beat the Mexican troops even though Mexicans have larger group..

  • It was promoted by slave owners.
  • Polk already knew that by annexing Texas he would start a conflict with Mexico, but he did it anyway.
  • Most abolitionists were against the war.
  • Most generals took experience from the Mexican-American War and would use it later in the American Civil War.
  • The American Civil War is the direct result of the Mexican-American War.
