It didn't end WW2. It ended WW1. Brutally. It would be the main and undoubtedly only cause of WW2 in around 20 years later. It was the cruelty that was enacted on the Germans, who actually didn't start WW1. It was Austria-Hungary who started WW1, but it was blamed on Germany because she had the largest military in Europe and had done the most against the Allies.
