The Armenian genocide and the Holocaust were similar in that people were tortured and killed because of their nationality. There were often no other reason than someone being Armenian, or Jewish, just because of that there were those who thought they should die.
This is the definition of holocaust in the dictionary:
A great or complete devastation or destruction, especially by fire
This is the definition of (the) Holocaust via the dictionary:
The systematic mass slaughter of European Jews in Nazi concentration camps during World War II.
In other words, holocaust could refer to any massacre or mass destruction, while Holocaust refers to the specific time period during World War II.
However, the rate of killing in the Rwandan genocide was staggering - about 800,000 victims killed in 90 days ... As for the question of religion, that really is a red herring. The Nazis killed the Jews because of their ethnicity: Jews who had converted to Christianity were treated in exactly the same way as devoutly practising religious Jews.
The Rwanda genocide wasn't someone taking control and killing people, it was discrimination between two "tribes" of people, the Hutu and the Tutsi. I can't exactly remember the specifics, but one group dehumanized the other and blamed them for everything/used them as scapegoats (did this in the Holocaust also). I think one group came to where they were, and they favored one group because they thought they were better looking/more graceful than the other group, and the unfavored group got treated badly, so after the people that came from like Europe or something left, there were alot of problems between the two. The group that got treated badly blamed the other one and they just fought and were horrible to eachother. (theres a lot more to it, Google both of them.)
The difference between the holocaust and the Armenian Genocide is that Armenians were from Turkey (Asia Minor) and the Caucasus. The victims of the Holocaust were Jews.
