Christianity and Islam

There are several African religions. Christianity and Islam did not originate in Africa it was brought by settlers from the north east. You have religion of yoruba people in Nigeria some call ifa or orisha tradion, and the akan in Ghana. These religions are oral traditions passed on from the beginning of time. It is a monotheistic belief based around worshipping the source of creation represented and manifested in everything in and around us.

These religions or spiritualities believe in reincarnation and work closely with their ancestors with the belief that time is linear and that the past present and future is all now in the same time and space.

There are hundreds of traditional beliefs and customs in Africa. Western type religions like Christianity and Islam is all relatively new. There is no pure belief system and the western religions have been integrated with traditional practice of the forefathers.
