They only dropped two bombs during World War II. 1. The first was dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on August 6th, 1945. 2. The second was dropped on the Japanese city of Nagasaki on August 9th, 1945.
America dropped atomic bombs on hiroshima and nagasaki. This plus the loss of Yamato, the IJN's (imperial Japanese navy) biggest battleship, forced japan to surrender, despite the fact they were very honourable.
