No, the the French had a 4 to 1 advantage in manpower. The Spanish had the advantage of the high ground, they had dug a trench line and every third infantry man was armed with an arquebus. Gunfire had made the difference. The French had a two to one advantage in artillery, massed musket fire was the only Spanish advantage and Spain suffered only 100 casualties compared to the 4,000 dead or wounded among the French and the Swiss. It was a small arms victory and the nature of warfare was changed forever.
