Yes, since the dominant religion in Europe was Christianity the soldiers were issued bibles in a effort to motivate soldiers and maintain a high morale. In some cases bibles even stopped bullets from penetrating their leather or steel-encased covers.
Pocket bibles were issued to US servicemembers and some soldiers were given/purchased their own bibles. Not all opted to carry them, however.
Keep in mind there were Jewish and non-practicing servicemen fighting as well.
