George Washington was a young British officer in the war. He was a minor player, but used his experience to go to congress in a tailor made uniform in blue with brass buttons. Standing over 6 feet tall in his uniform with his red hair he must have presented quite a figure to congress. He cited his experience in the French and Indian war to take command of American revolution troops.
