The Germans had won the Franco - Prussian war and had taken the territories Alsace and Lorraine away from France. The French began to hate the Germans. This could be a factor in the start to WWI.

Germany won the franco-prussian war and made France pay reparations thus taking alsace-lorraine. At the end of ww1 (when Germany lost) Germany was forced to sign the Treaty of Versailles in which they had to pay 6 6000 billion pounds on reparations, lost territory and gave alsace-lorraine back to France.

One of the causes of WW1 was the tensions between the countries and when Germany lost Clemenceau, the prime minister of France wanted a harsh treaty to be imposed on Germany as he wanted revenge and insurance that Germany would never invade France again.

Yes. It was fought mostly in France; the war had Prussian and its German allies fighting against the Second French Empire.
