Most people, even most of the Generals and Nazi leaders were afraid of Adolf Hitler because he had the power to kill or eliminate anyone chose to get rid of and he did do that often. Some of the children were not afraid of him because they had been brainwashed that Adolf Hitler was their savior (they even had to say this in school every morning). There were those who revered him and were not afraid of him.

There were some individuals who tried to kill Hitler because they knew he was a very dangerous man for the country of Germany and for Europe. He had between 40 to 100 or more attempts on his life because of the misery he was causing everyone and because he was killing off the Jews and anyone else he felt like killing.

Fear was the primary emotion governing the atmosphere and behavior of the German peoples and all those the Nazi oppressed in their own countries. The fear and inability to defend themselves forced the Jews to go cooperatively to the concentration camps. They did not want to go but they would be killed if they did not get in the trains or cars or whatever transported them away from their homes.

So, yes nearly everyone was afraid of Adolf Hitler.
