Margaret Sanger was human and as such was prone to both good and bad traits. She believed so strongly in the need for women to be educated about their bodies and have access to medically accurate Birth Control information that she went to jail for it. She spent her life fighting for those rights. She did believe that "the feeble-minded" should not be allowed to reproduce. She also believed that the best of all races should be allowed to reproduce. She wanted all couples required to take tests before they were allowed to have children. She was part of a movement of middle and upper class white people who in the early 20th century believed that they knew better what society needed than the people affected. She was also a socialist. However, she did not believe in going out and killing people. She was conflicted about abortion. She started out working in the slums of New York City in 1912 and found woman after woman unaware of how her body functioned and the law at that time forbid her to explain how to safely prevent pregnancy, whether by condoms or by any other means. She fought the law and she won, but it was a lifetime of work. Is that evil?
