Though America had superior tech and numbers the VC used the jungle as their weapon, they used camoflage and booby traps to ambush American forces. They knew th jungle and they knew how to fight. America tried to flush them out using High level bombing and napalm but this did not work as the V.C hid in caves.
As for weapons they manly used AK47s and RPGs the rest of them were often Russian Weapons.
The VC were not a government military (like the NVA), they were practically "insurgents", citizens of South Vietnam fighting against their own government; the South Vietnamese government. Consequently, they used whatever weapons they could get their hands on.
