Douglas Richard "Doug" Flutie (born October 23rd, 1962) is a former football quarterback in Canada and America.In fact, he is the first non-Canadian to be inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame, on May 8th of 2007.He was awarded the coveted Heisman Trophy as well as the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award in 1984 while playing for Boston College.During a game against Miami on November 23rd, 1984, he threw a "Hail Mary" pass that resulted in a touchdown. Newly-dubbed a "Hail Flutie", it is considered to be one of the greatest moments in college football AND American sports history.He and his wife, Laurie, established The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism in honor of their son Doug Jr., who has autism.
