The Ankh is an ancient Egyptian symbol that had religious purposes, and was used for same by the Egyptians. It might be a fertility or female sex symbol as it does resemble the cross-section ( no pun intended) of the Vagina. It is not a direct type of Christian Cross, but more of an offshoot. The actress Arlene Dahl was wearing an Ankh Ring when I photographed her at the Loew"s theare in 2009. It has obvious Occult meanings. Not strictly speaking a Christian form of Cross but might have been ( Co-opted). There are some odd structures in some Catholic churches which resemble Ziggurats- or sort of multi-level zig-zag pyramid structures- could support stacked tombs, coffins, not sure.
