In the year of 1971 the cost of one gallon of milk would cost about $1.19 more or less depending on where it was purchased.
A gallon of gas averaged around .20 cents per gallon in 1956. Adjusted for inflation that would equate to around $2.15 today.
In June 2008, the price of a gallon of gas was multiple ridiculous prices day after day but the price was at least $4.23, and that's as bad as it got. But, in summer of 2009 we have been much more controlled and it is about $2.38-$2.62.
