The emperor showed you the things Rome could get its hands on, then showed you its power at noon, and entertained you in the afternoon.

A small church was built inside the Colosseum in the 6th century. The place was also converted into a cemetery and many of the vaults in the arcades were converted into housing and workshops. There are records of the latter up to the 12th century.
