Homemade Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients:

4 cups frozen cranberries (4 cups)
2 cups water
2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon grated orange peel

Directions:

  • Rinse cranberries with cool water, removing any stems and damaged or bruised berries.
  • Over medium heat, bring water and sugar to a boil, and boil 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in cranberries.
  • Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
  • Continue boiling approximately 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cranberries begin to pop. Make sure they pop - this releases their natural pectin which causes the sauce to thicken.
  • Just before removing from heat, add the grated orange peel and stir a little.
  • Pour sauce into bowl or container.
  • Refrigerate until chilled.
