Predators of barnacles include sea stars, snails, crabs, and certain fish species. These predators feed on both adult barnacles and their larvae, and play a role in controlling barnacle populations in marine ecosystems.
Barnacles on a crab's shell improve its toughness, while the barnacles (normally lacking motility) are able to visit more than one location to obtain food, and may even feed on the crab's prey. Some barnacles, however, can cause damage or sterility in some species of crabs.
Barnacles are sea creatures living the ocean that attach themselves to a variety of different things such as boats or other animals. They are mainly eaten in Spain and Portugal, but some other European countries have the delicacy as well.

Torpedoes did the damage; under-water damage, the worst kind of damage for anything floating on water.
Columnar barnacles in New Zealand can typically be found along the rocky intertidal zones of the coast. They are commonly seen attached to rocks, wharves, and the hulls of boats in areas with high wave action and tidal movement. Some popular locations to spot columnar barnacles in New Zealand include the Otago Peninsula, Wellington's South Coast, and the Auckland region.
