World War two changed the world in various ways.

1) It propelled both the Soviet Union and United States to global superpower status, therefore ushering in the Cold War

2) It left Europe in shambles economically, which became far behind compared to said superpowers. It left Japan with massive damage to infrastructure to two major cities

3) It ushered the creation of the UN after the initial failings of the League of Nations between WW1 and WW2

4) It facilitated scientific research into weapons of mass destruction, atomic weapons, etc.

5) Further sped up the process of globalization and effectively stopped the US idea of isolationism in favor of a more "police watchdog state" approach to foreign issues

6) The Holocaust partially influenced the desire for a permanent Jewish state, later named Israel.
