During the Great Depression people were barely surviving. People were losing their jobs, their homes. There was barely enough food or water. In that result people were dying off! The Great Depression affected their daily lives in many ways; people were losing their jobs, losing their houses, they had no clothes, no food, no water and no life. Most of the banks shut down and peoples accounts were cleaned out.

Basically it is like the credit crunch (in the UK) there was a low income of moneys in America and so people had to make cuts, which meant more people were out of jobs and this meant no money, therefore affecting there lives.

The affects could include:

.Being homeless

.No food

.Traveling around the country in search for work

.People going to extremes to get money

.A huge gap between the rich and the poor

This is all i know hope it helped ;)

  • 25% of people were unemployed -> further reduced demand
  • no "safety nets" such as unemployment insurance or welfare payments, therefore the effects of unemployment were much more severe than they would be today.
  • Banks failed, making people lose their life savings. there were over 6000 banking failures.
  • Americans began to doubt the validity of the "American Dream"
  • 1925 - 1929, prices for agricultural products reduced 30%
  • Revolution was not imminent, but even Roosevelt was concerned enough to say "People who are hungry and are out a job are the stuff of which dictatorships are made"
