Rasputin still was not dead at this point, so he was clubbed by the nobles, wrapped into a sheet with his hands and feet tied and thrown into the icy Neva River. The autopsy revealed that he died from drowning but escaped the sheet and bonds.

Yes it is true he was poisoned and shot but that in fact is not what did him in. They basically tortured him. Tried everything in the book to kill this man and he just would not die. He was first of all castrated him in suspicion that he was involved with rebellious activity. They then proceeded to poison him, shoot him, drown him and after all that he in the end died of pneumonia in the freezing waters of Russia's.
