It affected Australia's relationships with other countries because it made Australia start to question and analyze their bonds and links with other countries. The impact World War 2 had on Australia's relationship with the rest of the world was drastic. Australia's relationship with Britain changed from strong ties of loyalty to almost nothing as Australia realised that during the war Britain wasn't going to be able to protect them and they turned to the USA. Ties already lay with USA but they weren't very strong so by becoming a strong ally of USA we developed a strong tie to the USA which still stands today as we see in the news almost every day. What happened next, was the french established a tie with America, which meant that all the main powers of the world were on one side(including china). They all turned against Japan and won.

Australia's foreign polciy changed throughout the course of world war 2 from following Britain to the USA. After the fall of Singapore, Australia realised that Britain could not defend them and developed a strategic relationship with the US for defence.

AnswerAustralia's foreign policy changed as, after the invasion of Singapore, and the destrction of the british navel fleet there, realising that Britain was in no state to be able to assist them as they were so far removed from them (so far as distance), knowing this they ammended to try and form new links with America, who, having just having had there entire pacific fleet destoryed in pearl habour had plans for using Australia as a defencive to invade Asia and push back the progressing Japanese army. All in all the new bonds ammended in the renewed foreign policy benefited Australia and all others concerned. Moving away from the traditional links with Britain, however the close bond remained throughout rhe fifties and most of the sixtiees (whilst menzies was prime minister) removing there ambilical cord from Britain and attaching in to America some might say!!
