There has never been an NHL player who has come out and admitted he is gay, either while he was playing or after he retired. I don't think, to the best of my knowledge, that Shaone Morrisonn has said he is gay!! That doesn't mean that that there has never been a gay player in the past or that none is gay right now. Maybe some player will come out but it will be very difficult in the current culture of the game of hockey.
THere have probably been many gay nhlers, one that i know of is Brent Sopel who won the Stanley cup with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010
