AnswerAccording to the ancient Egyptians, Horus the sky god had twelve followers1, one for each sign of the zodiac. Some say that the twelve tribes of Israel were formulated on the twelve signs of the zodiac, and that this led to the twelve disciples of Jesus.

The boat of Ra, who was later merged with Horus, was towed by twelve gods2. Though not mentioned as "disciples", they are his followers in that they follow him throughout his quest through the sky.

Whether or not these gods are analogous to Jesus' disciples remains as yet unproven.
