I have a similar photo of my father from 1924 when he was a baby. The back of the wooden oval frame has the Chicago Potrait Company stamp and price of $3.90 on it. The glass is oval at top, square at bottom and convexed. There is more information on the Chicago Portrait Company at this website. Hope this helps.

To find a value on a painting by the Chicago Portrait Company, you can start by researching similar works sold at auction or through art galleries. Online platforms like Artsy, Sotheby's, or Christie's can provide comparable sales data. Additionally, consulting with an art appraiser or a local art dealer specializing in portraiture can offer insights into the painting's market value. Don't forget to consider factors like the painting's condition, provenance, and the artist's reputation.

It depends. Some portraits like that will have no value other than to family members. It is possible that someone would want to use the art to illustrate the past, however, and if you can get a good digital copy made, you might be able to put it on a stock photo site and sell it. If you want to sell the original, you could always look on eBay or another auction site for similar items and see what they are going for (the size and quality will of course matter).
