How do you treat a muscle strain?
Answer:
Rest and ice for the first few days after the injury. Anti-inflammatory medications or acetaminophen (Tylenol) also can be helpful to reduce pain and swelling in the first few days after the injury. As the pain decreases, using heat helps, along with stretching and light exercises to bring blood to the injured area.
Seek immediate medical help if you have a lot of swelling with the muscle strain or if you can't move your arms, legs, or joints.

A strain, or pulled muscle, is an injury in which a muscle or its attaching tendons are torn due to overstretching. It is often associated with fatigue, muscle overuse and improper movement.

A strain is when you tear the muscle tissue slightly by over-stretching it. They occur when you put too much stress on the muscle - for example, by trying to lift something too heavy or by twisting too far.
A strain is damage to a muscle. It can be as little as a 'pull' or as bad as a tear in the fabric of the muscle.
