These are instructions in Self diagnosis if you have any doubts at all see a doctor immediately. I am not a doctor.

Examine the blood is it red and liquid? Does the water in the toilet go pink?

If so then the problem is the lower end of the bowel very likely the anal orifice.

Take a look at the faeces you passed, does that have blood in it?

Is the blood in vertical stripes and bright red?

This tells you that the blood was not deposited during the compacting of the stool. The striping shows an indication that the anal orifice has an issue. Its not a big problem and can be resolved with pile creams.

If the answers above are true, then the most likely issue is that you have fissures which are small cracks in the skin of the anal orifice they are normally caused by piles which have split or solid stools caused by constipation.

If the blood is red but stripped sideways, then this indicates that the blood is recent and was lost during the formation and compaction of the stool. You should definitely have this checked out by a doctor. It may be that you just have a scratch on the lining of the lower section of the intestine but its better to be safe than sorry.

If However.

The blood is black and looks like spots in the faeces, this indicates that the blood has clotted which indicates a problem farther up the intestines, possibly back as far as the stomach. This isn't normal and can be the cause of concern as it can be caused by a number of issues both malignant and benign. See a Doctor.

couple things. hemorhoids that's been abraided or ruptured, or bleeding in the intestines BELOW the stomach. if it was in the stomach it would be black tarry substance on the paper. a few other things can cause it like a ruptured fistula, or duodenal uleration. trace ammout that goes away in a day or two and that is not accompanied by pain generally shouldn't instill much concern. if it continues or worsens seek a dr and take a h2 antagonist like pepcid or proton pump inhibitor like prilosec immediatley
