"Myoma" is a disorder in which a woman develops uterine fibroids (benign/noncancerous) tumors inside the uterus (submucosal). One of the symptoms of Myoma is prolonged bleeding at times other than at menstruation and heavier than usual during menstruation. The tumor(s) is compiled of fibrous muscle tissue; its growth is often stimulated by estrogen. The tumor and its size can case bleeding at anytime; the larger the tumor the heavier the bleeding. Its location can also affect bleeding; it the tumor is near the cervix, it can hold the cervix open and allow continuous spotting. There also can be bleeding during and after intercourse.
Most women with this type of tumor are asymptomatic, at least until the tumor becomes quite large or if there are multiple tumors. Besides excess bleeding, one may pass blood clots; it also can induce weight gain, abnormal pain and cramping, leg pain, pain during intercourse, and infertility.
If abdominal pain becomes unbearable, sharp and stabbing seek medical help as soon as possible. This may indicate that the tumor's blood supply has been compromised. It may be that the tumor is not getting enough vascular support, or it has twisted upon itself, and it is not getting the blood it needs. Either of these situations can lead to tissue death, and gangrene; and you will need immediate medical attention. However, any abdominal pain should be address, don't wait until it gets to the sharp and stabbing pain level before seeing a doctor.
