Rosemary, and all other herbs, has certain properties that they have developed as protective mechanisms. Most all plants to some degree have antibacterial chemicals in them to fight off potentially dangerous bacteria. After all, they live in the same world that we do and there are 10x more bacteria on your body than you have cells in it. So plants have the same situation and need protection and they do it by making their own antibacterial, antibiotic, and antifungal chemicals. In fact most medications come from a plant base chemical, usually synthesized and given a fancy name.
