A very controversial question indeed, burning anything puts harmful emissions into the environment, helpful the the causes of global warming. Smoke releases carbon, and with less trees to turn it into oxygen, there is more carbon-dioxide in the air. So I would say, yes, burning garbage OS harmful to the envirenment, recycle instead xD

Smoke also contains carbon monoxide gas. The hemoglobin in your red blood cells will more readily combine with the carbon monoxide gas, so carbon will be going into your tissues instead of oxygen. This will prevent respiration.
