You boyfriend has a fairly common fantasy. Like many sexual preferences there may be no real 'reason' for it at all. Some theories arise from the fact that women require more labor on the part of the male to satisfy the woman, so men imagine sex not entailing so much effort and performance anxiety by having other men that some of the burden. Alternatively, he may have a sexual preference for threesomes, bisexuality or multipartner sex. Only having an open discussion with him can discover his real motivations.
