funny you should ask this. My friends and I were at the beach the other night, and my one friend and I went out in search of the third sandbar. It was a long swim without touching the bottom, and we turned back early. When we reached my other friend who was waiting for us, we were laughing and talking, and all of a sudden, the friend who had swam with me burped. She hadn't eaten in over an hour, and it wasn't intentional, leaving me wondering what caused it. The answer is simple. When we went swimming, we were laughing really hard which, as a fact, is very difficult when you are swimming hard. I noticed I had a fierce stomach ache as I was swimming. What happened was that when we laughed, we swallowed air, which then was pushed up due to lesser gravity and pushed against the top of our stomachs, which caused the stomach ache. When we got back and we were laughing, she pushed the air up and out of her stomach, where she opened her mouth and released a little belch. It was quite funny. I also burped a few times, but never belched. I cannot belch like that. My friend experienced two belches over the course of the swim, which both made us laugh because she is quite the fifteen-year-old girly girl! The belch was small because we were gasping for air while swimming, which made us swallow air in tiny intricals, which then released in tiny intricals simultaniously. It is important that the air swallowed is burped up. So if it was not naturally burped up or belched out, than you should try to force it out. Press on the affected area of the stomach, which should release some air and make you burp or belch, but do not try and make it loud or long...just let it come. Do not push it out by making the belching motion like throwing up, as this might make you do just that. Burping is easier than belching, so if you don't belch, just be happy to burp. if ache worsens and air is not burped up, have your friend burp you by patting you firmly on your back. if air is not burped up or belched out, you may be sick, or feel quite ill, so make certain that that air is released. And finally, laugh about it! Laughing worked for my friend, so it might work for you too. swallowing air is easy, and you won't even notice if you're busy having fun, but if you just randomly belch out of nowhere after a stomach ache, then now you know why.

There are several reasons as to why you burp a lot. These include constipation, changes in hormone levels, certain foods and drinks, swallowed air and certain medications or nutritional supplements. Some medical conditions are also known to cause excessive gas, such as Crohn's disease or a bowel obstruction.
