A lot of teen smoking has to do with peer pressure and stress. Teens feel that they need an outlet and smoking provides that outlet. People also find smoking to be calming. I would compare it to people who eat when they are stressed or nervous.
Also, when your friends are doing something that you don't do, be it good or bad for you, and they pressure you about it by making fun of you, teasing you etc. it makes it all the more easy to start doing it to get them off your back. For most teens smoking is also something that their parents have told them is off limits so starting to smoke could also be a form of teenage rebellion or a form of proclaiming one's independence.
They are ignorant and think it's cool. Alot.
There are a number of reasons why children ages 11 to 15 smoke. Most of them are giving into peer pressure.
Usually the see older kids or their friends doing it and are "peer pressured" into doing it.
they think its cool if they see allot of other people doing it. they also do it because of pier presser and because their friends do it. just don't smoke and u wont get harmed.
teens do it for many reasons; such as to be or look cool, peer persure, etc.
To show off in front of friends and girls, and because if they are taking exams or tests, it reduces their levels of stress.
Probably just like when teenagers start smoking cigarette
becaUSE when were small we know what will happen to us when we start smoking when were older
in my opinion around 15 or 16
It is true
Every day 1200 Americans die from smoking-related illnesses.1/3 of teens who start smoking will eventually die from it.

They shouldn't start smoking, but most start at adolescense. Now, I'm not telling any teenager to start smoking!!
People may continue smoking due to addiction to nicotine, social influences, stress relief, or a habit they find challenging to break. Additionally, the addictive nature of smoking can make it difficult for individuals to quit despite knowing the associated health risks.
well according to me media can help a lot in controlling tenagers from smoking. media can just picturise those things on tv which is very useful for teenagers in quitting smioking
