Two reasons: 1. The female pelvis is designed to allow a baby to pass through it. Therefore the top bone in womens' legs meets the hip joint at a wider angle than in men. 2. Women's design makes them predisoposed to have fat concentrate on their hips and bottoms, which is apparently very healthy for them.
