sometimes I do this myself. and it could be that we both are scared of being hurt again. we feel that if we make ourselves vulnerable and open our hearts to someone else again that we will be hurt again like in past relationships. at least that is how it is for me. but it's definitely because you are scared of something. but you have to get past your fears if you want to be happy. one day if you keep up this fear your boyfriend might get tired of it because he will feel he can't break down that protective wall you keep holding up.
