Here is an example that happened to me:
I had someone say to me "hey, how are you doing?" and I really wasn't having a good day so, I started to tell them "well, not so well actually..."
but then I noticed that the person who asked me the question was darting there eyes around as if the wanted to be somewhere else. I knew at that moment that the didn't REALLY want to know the answer to that question, they were just trying to be polite and make conversation. The seccond i stopped talking the person walked away.
Thats an example... you can usually tell what someone is thinking just by watching ther reaction to something you said

An example of the use of kinesics is interpreting body language cues during a conversation to determine if someone is engaged, interested, or uncomfortable.
