First of all there is always the unavoidable answer of sexual attraction. However we are all intelligent creatures and like to spend time with people that are interested in us and in what we do. Many people who are not particularly handsome or pretty have great relationships because they care about each other. while boy/girl relationships obviously call for sex companionship and real friendship are also very important components.
