Medical Assistants perform clinical and/or administrative tasks in support or under direct supervision of physicians. This is different from physician assistants who are licensed professionals trained to practice medicine and other surgical procedures also to support or under direct supervision of physicians. Recognition of this profession by the United States government has greatly improved the quality and quantity of workers in this field. Resulting to better services rendered to both patients and physicians.
