Licensed Medical Massage Therapists (LMMTs) work with patients in hosptial settings or in a clinic with those outpatients who have been referred for specialized massage, bodywork, and/or somatic care to work with their impairments, limitations, disabilities or changes in physical function, and health status resulting from a previous injury, disease or other causes. As a health care team member, the LMMT's role includes assessment, treatment planning, implementation, and evaluation of the medical Massage Therapy and all other massage, bodywork, and somatic care in order to assist the patient towards achieving pain relief and the highest functional outcomes.
