Approximately 4 to 5% of the U.S. population has one or more clinically significant phobias in a given year.

I have been unable to find any information about the statistics of thalassophobia specifically. Since it is often misdiagnosed and mistaken for other illnesses like ADHD or Bipolar disorder it is very hard to say with certainty how many people actually suffer from thalassophobia.
