Cyproheptadine (pronounced /ˌsaɪprɵˈhɛptədiːn/; usually as cyproheptadine hydrochloride, trade name Periactin or Toractin) is an antihistaminic/anticholinergic andantiserotonergic agent. It acts as a 5-HT2 receptor antagonist as well and also blocks calcium channels.[1]
Toractin, commonly known as piracetam, may cause side effects such as headaches, dizziness, gastrointestinal disturbances, and insomnia when taken as a prophylaxis. Some individuals may also experience anxiety or agitation. It's important to consult a healthcare professional for personalized advice and to monitor for any adverse effects.
Toractin, containing the active ingredient torasemide, is primarily used as a diuretic to manage conditions like edema associated with heart failure, liver cirrhosis, and kidney disorders. It helps reduce excess fluid in the body by promoting urine production. Additionally, torasemide is sometimes used to treat high blood pressure. Its efficacy often makes it a preferred choice over other diuretics in certain clinical situations.
