On accident! This is not something that should be done on purpose. Bruising occurs when capillaries or vessels break and internal bleeding occurs. Bruising is visible when the bleeding occurs close enough to the surface of the skin. If a bruise is serious enough, it can actually cause tissue damage, or worse. Sometimes bruising can cause clots to form that later come loose into the circulatory system. This can lead to heart attack or stroke. Of course, this isn't going to happen on the majority of bruises, but there is always the slight possibility. Then there is also the question that goes along with this. Why would you want to bruise yourself? I can only think of a few reasons, none of them good. If it is something you feel compelled to do, then you may have other issues that need to be addressed. Whenever you feel the need to actually harm your own body, it is time to go talk to an adult that you can trust. Let them know what is going on, and why you may be having these feelings. It may be time to speak to a professional. Self harm is being brought out more and more. Doctors are becoming much more familiar with its causes and effects. However, if you are doing it for more dishonest reasons, you need to really think about the ethics and legality behind what you are doing.
