The coccyx is also called the tailbone. An injury to this bone can be very painful especially when sitting. To treat an injury like this taking NSAIDS and applying ice to the area for 15-20 minutes a few times a day will help. Using a doughnut shaped pillow to sit on and shifting position away from the injury may also be advantageous.

Why is it critical to provide proper treatment for minor and moderate sports injuries within the first 48 hours after sustaining the injury?

It is important to address sports injuries very early primarily because you don't want the injury to worsen, spread, or grow in intensity. If the athlete continues to play/exercise/work with the injured part of the body without any kind of proper treatment, the injury could get worse pretty fast.

How do you cure a dogs leg injury?

That depends on the nature of the injury. If it is a minor cut, then clean it twice a day with peroxide and apply an antibiotic cream; be sure to watch for signs of infection also. If it is a large cut, gash, burn, puncture , etc., then the dog needs to be taken to a veterinarian for proper treatment. If it is a broken bone, then it needs to be taken to a vet for that, as well. If you are not sure what the problem with the dog's leg is, then you need to have your vet examine the dog so it can be given the proper treatment. But what ever the cause or kind of injury, please get the dog proper treatment, and don't let it suffer needlessly.
