The most flame retardant fabric is deemed to be wool, because it is harder to catch fire and the flames are quite often extinguished by the fiber. Synthetic acrylic, nylon and polyester are the next flame retardant fabrics because they can withstand higher temperatures than natural fabrics.

What is the difference of disposable washable and permanent flame retardant fabric?

The flame retardant fabric can be divided in to disposable, washable and permanent flame resistant fabric.Disposable flame retardant fabric and washable flame resistant fabric are added some chemical composition, the generated gases from burning fabric can separate the fire area from oxygen to extinguish the fire. The permanent flame retardant fabric itself has flame retardant property.Washable flame retardant fabric and permanent flame resistant fabric are mainly used for garment, and disposable flame retardant fabric usually used in decoration, curtains and cushions etc. The initial flame retardant property of these three fabric are not much difference, just the flame retardant property of washable flame resistant fabric would be reduced after 50-100 washing times, the disposable flame resistant fabric disappeared completely, and permanent flame resistant fabric.Raw material flame retardant fabric congenital flame retardant, do not need to add the day after tomorrow, expensive, and more for scientific research, military fields, are high-grade fabrics.

How long does flame resistant clothing last?

How is fabric flame retardant?

flame needs oxygen in order to keep on burning. fabric might cut that source of oxygen and the fire might go out, but there is a limit to how much flame a fabric can put out I think...

Can you say that the fact that silk burns slowly is it an advantage?

not really, an advantage would be how easily/difficult the fabric is to catch light ( fire retardent), not how slow it burns when it is alight

What will be the different results by different test method of flame retardant fabric?

It is a complex procedure when testing the flame retardant property of the fabric, because there are many factors to effect the fabric burning. And the factors are related to each other. Even if one same fabric behave different, the test result will be a little difference. In general, the factors are: lighting fire form, time on fire, the position of the fabric and the fire, etc. Different test method have different test result. Until now, horizontal firing, 45℃ firing and the vertical firing are the most commonly used method. When balance the flame retardant property of the fabric, we should specify the test method and the condition and the horizontal firing is the most relaxed method. With the same finished process, test by the 45℃ firing, if the flame can not burn through the fabric immediately in the fabric and the fire will increase and spread to the around. The flame retardant property is bad. When test by vertical firing, if the fabric after burning can form the expansive carbon residue, which can be in favor of the flame spread up and get good flame retardant property. As the the 45℃ firing, we suggest to use the molten drop flame retardant chemicals, which is in favor of burning through in short time. As for vertical firing , we suggest to use the form carbon flame retardant chemicals, which is benefit for the fabric to form the non flame carbon floor in short time and get the flame retardant property.by yulong tex
