The submandibular gland is located under the chin, beneath the lower jaw bone. This gland is one of the major salivary glands in the body responsible for producing saliva to aid in digestion.
Hyperthyroidism is when the thyroid gland in the body is overactive. The symptoms this causes can range from palpitations and sweating, tremor in the hands, feeling anxious and tense a lot, losing weight even when eating normally.
The pituitary gland is located at the base of the brain in a depression of the skull called the sella turcica. It is often referred to as the "master gland" because it plays a crucial role in regulating other endocrine glands in the body.
According to Wikipedia, the major glands of the endocrine system include the pineal gland, pituitary gland, pancreas, ovaries, testes, thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, hypothalamus and adrenal glands. These glands secrete hormones directly into the blood.

Anything that is stressful and/or traumatic can give teens anxiety. Puberty by itself may be somewhat stressful, but for the most part it shouldn't be the cause of major anxiety. Puberty mixed with illness in the family can be very stressful and somewhat traumatic, which could be the cause of anxiety in a teen.
