∙ 14y ago7-9 days it will be completely gone. You start noticing symptoms with 1-3 days after you have been introduced to the virus. The first day is usually not the worst, beginning with a sore or scratchy throat. Days 2-4 are usually the worst.

A common cold will last about one to two weeks. These symptoms will eventually go away on their own and can be cleared up faster if one rests and drinks plenty of liquids.

∙ 14y agoI just read on another health website that the common cold is infectious for 1 day before and 1-3 days after your symptoms appear. For influenza, its 1 day before and 5 days after your symptoms appear.
