What is the highest dosage prescribed per day for Neurontin?

Neurontin is highly variable in its dosing and comes in capsules of 300mg or 100mg. Some people can take up to 2,400 mg a day in divided doses, and with little effect. That is the highest dose I've heard. However, most people do well at 900 mg a day in 3 divided doses (300mg each dose). Other people can only take 100mg in three divided doses because the higher dose makes them too sleepy.

Other meds for neuropathy type pain are: Lyrica, Trileptal, or another anti-convulsant medication.
