∙ 14y agoTramadol is an "analgesic," which is a pain killer. Tramadol has a mild opioid and has other properties similar to antidepressants. It is currently not a controlled drug like all other drugs containing opioids. In my opinion it should be controlled since it can be abused, it can cause dependence and withdrawals will occur if taken chronically and then stopped abruptly.

∙ 13y agoTramadol is an analgesic (or painkiller) which can be used to treat moderate pain in patients. Tramadol is not recommended to be taken by anyone pregnant as not enough human studies have been carried out to confirm if this drug is safe.Tramadol however when used correctly can be effective against constant pain such as lower back. Tramadol is used similarly to Codeine, to treat moderate to moderately severe pain and most types of neuralgia, including trigeminal neuralgia. This drug is available in sizes from 30mg through to 250mg.
There is also a stronger side of Tramadol known as Tramadol Extended Release which has a range of 100mg to 400mg and is used for more acute pain.

These agents are often individually epileptogenic and may have additive effects when combined. Many of these agents also exhibit CNS- and/or respiratory-depressant effects, which may be enhanced during their concomitant use with tramadol.POSSIBLE SOLUTION: Caution is advised if tramadol is administered with any substance that can reduce the seizure threshold, particularly in the elderly and in patients with epilepsy, a history of seizures, or other risk factors for seizures (e.g., head trauma, brain tumor, metabolic disorders, alcohol and drug withdrawal, CNS infections). ----
no! TRAMADOL IS A SCAM! EVERYONE RETURN THEIR TRAMADOL BEFORE YOU DIE.....LIKE MY CAT DID.. he ate a pill and a half..........and died instantly... maybe over time it can build up in our bodies and cause us death!! want proof? add me on facebook PRUDENCE BAHUMBI! (im the gorgeous one with the ferret on my shoulder;) ) 29092012: Prudence, what happened to your cat is unfortunate. Tramdol is a widely-used opioid analgesic, but it was designed for human patients in mind. Does that mean it is unsuitable for animals? No. In fact, tramadol has seen a lot of action in veterinary medicine. I imagine your cat was given too high a dose, or had not built up the tolerance to opioids necessary for the high dose. This can cause death, in humans and animals. As a pharmacist, I have seen patients on tramdol for years, and tolerate them well. Back to the question, hypertension (high blood pressure) is not listed as a contraindication in the latest edition of the British National Formulary for tramadol.
Unless a medical professional has told you to take both medicines the answer is no. Both are central nervous system depressants and a combination could prove fatal.
NO! Tramdol is a separate drug completely. Tramadol is the generic chemical drug name for ULTRAM which is used for low-moderate pain. Hydrocodone is prescribed for Moderate-Severe pain.
Generic Name: tramadol (TRAM a dol) Ultram is a narcotic-like pain reliever.
Tramadol HCL is generic for Ultram, which is a weaker painkiller than Codeine and it is safe -- in low doses to take them together. But it is probably not safe to take both together in high doses.
