By poison ivy lotion I take it you mean a calamine lotion like caladryl. It contains carbolic acid, zinc oxide (ZnO) , and ferric oxide (Fe2O3), none of which is a pure element.

I am currently using Caladryl Clear that expired 01/2004 on a rash of poison ivy. It seems to be working just fine.

I don't know if there is a white Calamine lotion, but there is a clear calamine lotion. It is super clear and once you put it on it just looks a little shiny, kind of like clear nail polish. The only downside is that it doesn't work as well as the pink calamine does.
