Floricet is a barbiturate sedative mixed with a non-aspirin pain medication and caffeine. It is actually a trademark of butalbital (a barbiturate that relaxes muscle contractions involved in a tension headache), acetaminophen (a pain reliever and fever reducer), and caffeine (a central nervous system stimulant that relaxes muscle contractions in blood vessels to improve blood flow). The combination of these three is used for the treatment of tension headaches caused by contractions of the muscles in the neck and shoulder area. As previously mentioned, this is commonly used to relieve one from migraines and other pain related ailments.
